I certified with Canadian Sub-Aqua as an ACUC Open Water Diver in 2007.

Scuba diving was something I had always wanted to do, however like may people I always seemed to have too many things to do and not enough time to do them - so I put it off and off.

I found myself transplanted from Sault Ste Marie to the G.T.A. in 2005 and had few other obligations for my time so when a co-worker at Toshiba suggested I come out to the CanSAC Open House and Try Scuba night; I accepted the invitation.

From the moment I took my first breath underwater, I immediately regretted waiting so long to learn scuba. I signed up on the spot for the Open Water Diver course and started on the path that I am on today and have never looked back.

Upon completing my OWD at the end of May, I immediately signed up for the ACUC Advanced Open Water Diver course and started racking up bottom time. I had reached over 20 dives shortly into July and completed my AOWD checkouts before August. Now ... let me qualify this by stating that I was by no means an advanced diver when I completed the course, but any instructor worth his salt will tell you that all the C-Cards in the world are meaningless unless you have the experience to back them up - and that is what I did next. I went diving at every oppourtunity, and accumulated almost 50 dives in my first year of diving.

The following season I completed my ACUC Rescue Diver certification and after completing a series of night dives at Catalina Islands in Southern California, I received my ACUC Night Diver certification. Over the winter I completed my TDI Nitrox Diver certification and by the end of my third season of diving had over 200 dives logged.

In 2008 I was elected to the club executive as the Vice-President and was voluntold in 2009 to abdicate my position as VP and run (unopposed!) for the role of President. It has been my goal in my role on the club executive to increase membership and more importantly encourage our members to become more active in the club itself. As a group, the executive of CanSAC has worked hard to accomplish this and everyone deserves an equal share of the credit for our successes these last few years.

I have added several other specialties along the way including ACUC Ice DiverSDI Solo Diver, and the ACUC Dry-Suit Diver and my ACUC Divemaster (2010) certification. As part of my Divemaster training, I completed the DAN Diving Emergency Management Program - including Basic Life Support for Dive Professionals, Advanced Oxygen Provider, Automated External Defibrialltor (AED) and Neurological Examiniation, and therefore recognized as a DAN Diving Emergency Specialist . Most recently I have completed my PADI TEC REC technical diving certifications for multi-gas decompression diving and have also become a Certified Gas Blender. I am also a PSI/PCI cerfied Cylinder InspectorValve Service Technician and Oxygen Cleaning Technician.

In 2011 I crossed over to the dark side and completed my PADI Open Water Instructor, Emergency First Responce Primary and Secondary Care, CPR and AED Instructor and lastly became an ACUC Open Water Instructor. In 2015 I became a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer,  and am certfied to teach many PADI Specialties including Enriched Air Nitrox, Emegency Oxygen Provider, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Dry Suit Diver, DPV, Deep Diving, Wreck Diving.

At the Annual General Meetings of 2011, 2013 nd 2015 I was re-elected as President and while also serving as President, elected as the new Training Director in 2016.

In 2017, I officially stepped down as the President to focus on my role as Training Director exclusively.

I travel regularily and enjoys diving anywhere there is water. I have a time-share in Cozumel, Mexico and try to spend at least a week a year there. The warm water (high 70's) diving in Cozumel is spectacular and the resident population is always friendly. I am also fortunate to be forced (twist my arm) to annually travel to California on Toshiba business and sneak in a weekend of diving in the colder water (high 50's low 60's) of the channels islands everytime I travel. The kelp forests at Catalina Island are incredible to dive in, and the lobster and sea lion populations in the ever so slightly more northern islands of Santa Cruz and Anacapa are abundant and quite playful - well the sea lions and seals are, the lobsters are just ... delicious. I have also had the pleasure to dive in the Bay of Pigs at Playa Giron in Cuba and intend to revisit Cuba at my earliest convenience.

While diving in the warm waters of the Carribean is always nice, and the cooler California waters offer a totally different experience, you cannot discount the incredible diving that can be found right here in Ontario. Home to many of the best preserved shipwrecks in the world, Ontario offers divers a chance to drift back into history on wrecks that can be found mostly intact dating back several hundred years. My favourite destinations in Ontario include Point Traverse (Ducks Dive) and Tobermory and you would be remiss if you did not take the oppourtunity to visit some of the wrecks that can be found there. My absolute favorite Great Lakes diving is in Upper Michigan in the Straits of Mackinaw.

In 2018, I purchased Aquasub Scuba Diving Centre, located in Richmond Hill, Ontario and I am a full-time shop owner and living the dream.
